Seems cool. Plus, factional status is a nice feature to manage when you play, so you can dive into PvP when it suits you.
When did they introduce the open-world PvP - all-against-all chaos - in Aion? Which update was that?
Let's reminisce a bit, at Aion's start, I think the level cap was 50, and we all had the same objectives until they raised it to 55, and beyond,
also, there were big changes to rifting, where the level cap got lifted. Isn't there a Fast Track Server now? It seems like NCsoft overlooked new or returning players at some point, or maybe they lost interest and started new MMOs, just piling on the pay-to-win mechanics and odd classes like the painter.
Private servers can implement tweaks as long as it isn't overly complicated.
But speaking of private servers, I'm part of the Aion Riftshade beta, and it's quite something special. The server is ready to launch in Q1 2026 and has amazing features like balanced PvP, custom rates, and it's free to play with no pay-to-win nonsense. They have an active development team, so the updates are frequent, and they're keen on tailoring the experience, unlike other forgotten ventures.
