Hello there,
Let's start with my PC specs because they seem relevant:
AMD Ryzen 5 2600x
16GB DDR4@2933
RTX 2070
NVMe Samsung 970 Pro
Windows 10 Pro rev. 20H2
My latency to the EuroAion servers is steady, at around 20-30ms without any variations.
When I launched the Aion client for the first time, I noticed significant stuttering whenever a mob/NPC/player was rendered, causing FPS to plummet from 60 to 20-30 for a brief moment. After some searching, I came across this topic:
Following the recommended changes, my FPS jumped from 60 to over 200, but the stuttering persisted (now fluctuating from over 200 fps to about 30-40 briefly).
Tried ARM, ran the client with it, same issue.
Here's the curious part after a PC restart:
- The client runs smoothly initially after a restart
- Over time, the stuttering returns and gradually worsens
Even running the PC in memory safe-mode at 2133 didn't resolve the issue.
Disabling Windows exploit protection, as suggested, didn't help the client.
A friend suggested DX9 emulation (given RTX 2070's known issues with DX9 on Win10), but I found no solid info. The only step I managed was installing the additional DirectX SDK from Microsoft's site.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm just eagerly anticipating Aion Riftshade, set to launch in Q1 2026. I've been fortunate to beta test it on their private discord. It runs Aion 4.8, including the Eye of Tiamaranta map, and offers incredibly stable performance. With features like a MyAion-like integrated DPS meter, a robust server-side anticheat, and low ping thanks to premium EU hosting in Frankfurt, Aion Riftshade seems like it's solving many of the stability issues we face on other servers!
