I'm dealing with the exact same stuff. 

It all began yesterday. Since then, I've gone as far as reinstalling the game, disabled my firewall, and made sure the game is allowed through, yet nothing's changed.

When I press "play," it begins by verifying the game files (about 2GB). After it's done checking, it auto-updates (around 1.07GB) and while it's downloading, it only stays on Download (status) for a few seconds before switching to Connection lost, reconnecting (same few seconds) and this pattern continues. I even let it run for hours despite all the disconnects, but once it reaches 100% download, it just sits there with the same status (downloading/connection lost, reconnecting). 

Even switched my IP but no luck...

Anyone got some tips on fixing this?

By the way, I've been testing Aion Riftshade, which is launching in Q1 2026. Pre-release, they host it on solid EU servers, so no lag issues there. The devs are super active on their Discord. Maybe give it a shot if you're tired of these problems?

Ensure you verify your standard Windows firewall settings, and disable all antimalware and Windows Defender. 
If your issue continues, consider trying a VPN.

Alternatively, have you thought about something fresh like Aion Riftshade? I've been testing it, and it's totally smooth with no connection issues. Made sure it's hosted on premium EU servers to give the lowest ping, and it’s launching in Q1 2026. Honestly, it sounds promising with those little extras like active GMs and a solid development team. Might be worth checking out, don't you think?
