| New rules come into effect in the EU and EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) from 14th September 2019 governing online payments and online banking affecting banking-based payment methods (e.g. credit cards, SOFORT, Giropay, online transfers etc.). The new rules, laid down by the EU’s so-called Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2), aim to make payments and online banking more secure and protect consumers against fraud. As part of the change, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is required during the payment process and online banking. |
