Backstory
After the Arch Dyad’s flight, he sought for ways to make the Balaur even stronger. Looking for a suitable test subject, his choice fell upon Raksha. Once one of Tiamat’s generals, this powerful dragon rose against her, fomenting a rebellion. Tiamat was however able to quell the uprising, and as punishment, the dragon was sealed away in Raksang.
The Arch Dyad had been experimenting with the mysterious energies of the fire dragon which he had discovered in the Dokkaebi Realm. Using twisted and barbaric methods, he was ultimately able to rend the spirit of the imprisoned dragon from him, thus begetting Yaksha.
Torn in intellect and emotion, the two halves of the dragon where both unstable and destructive. But instead of granting Yaksha new powers, the Arch Dyad’s experiments simply created two unstable fragments, shattered and incomplete. His powers were incapable of maintaining the severance, and the two halves eventually coalesced once more into a single, tormented creature which had neither the intellect nor the emotions of the original dragon.
Nothing remained but Yaksha’s blind and destructive rage. Recognising that his experiments had come to nought, the Arch Dyad fled, leaving Yaksha alone to his own devices. The latter now attempts to escape his imprisonment in the fortress, so that he can deliver his rage upon Laphsaran...
Entering the Burning Blood Fortress
The mighty gate to the Burning Blood Fortress can be found in Laphsaran. Head to the Occupied Tiamat Legion Fortress and keep a lookout for the formidable stone gate featuring a dragon’s head.
The Instance
No sooner have you and your companions entered the fortress, then your noses will be filled with the caustic smell of burning sulphur. The heat is almost unbearable, with thick rivulets of lava flowing in the depths. You are in the Burning Antechamber, where it would be wise not to dwell! The sooner you can take down the Ancient Yaksha, the better your rewards will be. In the distance, you will be able to make out two floating islands of rock, where you will test your mettle against Yaksha’s strength.
Multiple teleport orbs lie before you and your allies, but only one of them is active, and will take you directly to the mighty fire dragon. He will first observe you warily, but as soon as you move to attack, he will defend himself and the battle will commence!
Sooner or later, Yaksha will brand one of your number. The branded Daeva must use a teleport orb and face a special test; on the second floating island they will be confronted by four different drakscales, each bearing a different symbol. Speed is of the essence in finding the right symbol and destroying the drakscale! This will give all the Daevas a powerful buff allowing them to inflict more damage. But be careful – Ancient Yaksha will also benefit from the blessing and likewise inflict more damage!
If you manage to bring the mighty fire dragon to his knees, you and your companions will find a Suspicious Teleport Orb which takes you to the Arch Dyad’s secret lab!
Although long since abandoned by its proprietor, he must have left various records and treasures behind. The quicker you defeat Ancient Yaksha, the less time the Arch Dyad will have had to prepare his escape, leaving behind more goodies for your party. Open his chest to discover what he was forced to abandon! If you are quick enough, you and your party could find Burning Salvation or Burning Subterranean weapons, Young Dragon Lord’s Wings and level-55 stigmas.
Tips and Tricks
Whoever is branded by Yaksha must be quick – there isn’t much time to destroy the right drakscale! Nevertheless, it is wise to take a moment and respectfully bow your head before your opponent, eyes to the ground...
The blessing which boosts the attacks of everyone – including the dragon – can be received up to four times. While it may seem folly to give the Ancient Yaksha additional power four times, brave Daevas should not baulk at the challenge! Only by defeating Yaksha really quickly with bold (foolhardy?) determination can you hope to get the greatest rewards!
