In the new update, you can lock horns with the enemy faction (and your own!), take down bosses, hunt for mysterious treasures, and much more in the cross-server Laphsaran! Dextrous Daevas can also collect lots of crafting materials and use them to create tons of powerful items. Read on to learn all about what to expect in the new zone which replaces Apheta Beluslan.
Backstory
On their triumphant approach to Tiamaranta, the Elysian and Asmodian fleets fall into the gravitation trap laid in the clouds by Tiamat. They only barely manage to avoid crashing, and land in the strange and barren region of Laphsaran.
Laphsaran – a gigantic tear through the continent, where towering rock formations loom into the heavens and a sinister realm of shadows rules in the depths – was once the dominion of the Dragon Lord Apsu.
But the 5th Balaur Lord, Lady Tiamat, was able to bring the region into her aegis, and is now keeping Daevas of both factions trapped in a gravity well that reaches into the skies above Laphsaran. Getting away will be extremely difficult. Apsu’s mysterious renegades likewise fear the wrath of the Dragon Lady. But maybe they know of a way to escape Laphsaran’s wastes?
How to Reach Laphsaran
Elyos can reach Laphsaran through the Eos Portal in Inggison, while Asmodians should use the Minox Portal in Gelkmaros. You must have reached at least level 56 to travel to Laphsaran for 50,000 Kinah.
Laphsaran: Land of Crossed Swords
The battle between the Elyos and Asmodians rages in Laphsaran like never before. But there is also dissent among faction ranks: Laphsaran’s wastelands include stretches of no man’s land known as Lawless Zones. Particularly nefarious Daevas can use these areas to let the blood of their own! If you find yourself in such an area, don’t be lulled into a false sense of security when you encounter a Daeva of the same faction.
Numerous garrisons are spread across Laphsaran at strategic locations. The Balaur hold these bases initially, and it is up to brave Daevas to wrest them from their grip and conquer them. In order to do this, the commander of a garrison must be neutralised. But even after conquering a base, holding onto it is no less important! The enemy faction will naturally have their sights on these fortresses, and would be more than happy to see them fall into their own hands – or at least fall out of yours...
Shortly after conquering a base, the conquering faction’s commander will arrive in the garrison. Do your utmost to protect them. Only while the garrison is in your faction’s hands will you be able to complete the daily and weekly group quests marked in green there and earn the prized Mithril Medals! Using these you can acquire two brand-new equipment sets for level 60: the Archon/Guardian Admiral’s sets. Exchange your Mithril Medals with the noble armour/accessory distributors in Inggison or Gelkmaros.
Special quests available at your hard-won garrison can also provide you with Garrison Seals. Certain travelling merchants are very interested in these: Even the most dangerous zone can be a profitable opportunity for smart Shugos with a good nose for business – especially when they have exclusive goods to offer. At least that’s the opinion of certain guild merchants who will be peddling their wares at various locations in Laphsaran each evening from 7 PM to 2 AM. But travelling merchants can only carry so much on their journeys, so their stocks are limited. It’s a case of first come, first served!
Nevertheless, for reasons of fairness, the guilds have agreed to limit the number of each individual items they will sell to each Daeva, in order to allow as many Daevas as possible to take advantage of their limited offers. Note that these merchants have again recruited among their ranks some truly sneaky thieves from a rehabilitation programme: while they won’t jeopardise their probation by stealing from you, they will keep the merchants well informed about the contents of your bags! If you’re dragging hoards of goods around with you, the merchants won’t sell you even more.
Certain travelling Daevas are very interesting in the supplies the Shugos have to offer. They will offer you Adventurer’s Seals in exchange, which you can redeem with Latarunerk (Elyos) or Laphrunerk (Asmodians). These two entrepreneurial Shugos know exactly how to get a Daeva’s heart pumping, and have an array of cosmetic items and emotes to offer! You’ll find them by the airlines in Laphsaran.
Lawless Zone Treasure Hunt
Treasure chests will occasionally spawn in the lawless zones in Laphsaran in which you can find Kinah, Skill Book Pages (Level 60) and Gliding Skill Book Pages.
Daevas with hawk eyes can also enjoy a special treasure hunt, as there are three enchanted items hidden around Laphsaran. These items are a tree, a rock, and a sack of grain. You’ll recognise them by the blue glow when you mouse over them. When you interact with them, a Drakan Treasure Hunter can appear. Defeat him to receive Balic materials and Skill Book Pages (Level 60).
Terrors of the Deep: Subterra
Every Saturday night in the Subterran Haven a particularly terrifying beast will rise from the depths of the clouded water – Lord Subterra will bring disaster there for one hour from 11 PM. In the face of this great horror, it behoves Elyos and Asmodians alike to set aside their eternal conflict and join forces to banish this terrifying beast. But speed will be of the essence, as the monster will vanish again after one hour.
If you manage to defeat Lord Subterra, the faction which dealt the most damage will earn fantastic rewards including Sanguine Subterran earrings, Enraged Veille/Enraged Mastarius’ weapons or armour and more. The lesser faction can also benefit from smaller rewards in the form of special Subterra Participation Bonus Bundles.
Down with Dyads
A particularly sinister figure walks abroad in Laphsaran – the Arch Dyad, Lord of Arcane Magic! He will appear in the occupied Tiamat legion fortress from 10:30 PM every last Friday of the month. As with Lord Subterra, you should not be foolish enough to face him alone, as his incredibly powerful skills are sufficient to cloud your mind and make the earth beneath your feet tremble.
Here again, the faction which contributes the most to his downfall can look forward to especially powerful rewards, including Lady Lumiel’s Crown, Arch Dyad Skill Book Pages, Enraged Agent’s weapon/armour chests, the Greater Godstone Bundle and more! Additional rewards are also available via a special raid quest.
The Arch Dyad’s loyal followers are also active in Laphsaran, with units of Dyad Stormtroopers roaming the Saltspirit Plain every Saturday at 7 PM. If 20 Dyad Stormtroopers are defeated (Dyad Bloodbinders, Dyad Warriors or Dyad Battle Mages) then their commander, Varatar, will see himself forced to engage in battle personally. Defeat him to loot the exclusive Sanguine Subterran Wings and Varatar’s Rare Manastone Bundle.
Gruesome Grand Chieftains Sirakha and Dhumuta
Every night when the pale moonlight falls on Laphsaran, two particularly powerful figures will appear in the wastelands: Grand Chieftain Sirakha and Grand Chieftain Dhumuta. Grand Chieftain Sirakha will appear at 9 PM while Grand Chieftain Dhumuta will only come out of hiding from 9:30 PM. Fantastic treasures like Skill Books (Level 58), Sanguine Subterran necklaces/rings, Souls of Violence and more await those who successfully take them out!
