In update 2.8.5, you’ll face a familiar face in the new instance, Wall of Lament! Read on to discover how to prepare for the challenge which lies ahead.
Samael’s Hell Beyond Time
From level 58, you can join up to three other Daevas and head to the Wall of Lament, where you will experience Samael’s personal hell beyond time at first hand.
The instance can be entered once per week and resets weekly on Wednesdays at 9 AM. Besides various other valuable treasures, look forward to a brand-new equipment set, exclusive to this instance!
Backstory
Samael’s fate would normally have been sealed in Sunken Telos. But Tiamat was surprised to learn that Samael managed to withstand the experimental temporal forces far better than any of her other guinea pigs. And so the Balaur Lord once more demonstrated how her ostensible grace translates into a terrible reality. She had the body of the tortured Daeva brought before her, and used the unstable powers at her command to wrench her tormented soul back.
Samael’s very being was rent asunder, scattered across the timelines, from which she has no recourse. Imprisoned in the past and the future, in a place which Tiamat has bent to her will, this erstwhile freeborn Daeva does not even have the liberty to die. Her name is Samael, a lamentable creature, doomed like no other Daeva before her.
Where Is the Wall of Lament?
The Wall of Lament can be entered via the Apheta Beluslan Fortress if your faction has control over the fortress. If not, you will need to locate Tikimunerk or Tikirunerk in the vicinity of the fortress, who will be able to provide you with a Lament Fragment. Then head to your faction’s airship and use the fragment to travel through the rift to the Wall of Lament.
The Instance
The moment you and your allies enter the instance, you will find yourselves back on the twisted temporal path through that mysterious dimension where Tiamat is gathering her powers. This location is a prison, and upon following the path, you’ll soon behold its sole prisoner before you: Samael. The spirit of this once freeborn Daeva has been scattered across time, and there is little of her true nature left.
Drowning in despair, Samael will ignore you initially, as long as you don’t attack her, so use this opportunity to prepare for what’s to come. You only have a certain number of attempts to bring peace to this tormented Daeva, and you cannot return to the path once the battle has begun!
During the battle itself, Samael will be driven by the immense pain wrought upon her soul, and bring an entire arsenal of deadly skills to bear against you. As if that weren’t enough, from time to time the very flux of time will be interrupted, causing alternate versions of her to attack you from the myriad streams of time.
But the valorous Daevas who manage to put an end to Samael’s agonising existence can look forward to rich rewards. These include the new Doomed Legion Commander’s set, comprising chest/leg armour, weapons and accessories all exclusively available in this instance, alongside other fabulous treasures.
Tips and Tricks
As hard as it may be, try to keep your composure during the fight. Samael has a decent selection of AoE skills which can deal tremendous amounts of damage if you don’t react to them with a cool head. Keep an eye on your surroundings, in particular the floor! Things which crackle and sparkle are generally not conducive to a long life.
The vents spread out across the floor of the arena should not be ignored. Samael has a particularly powerful attack which cannot be dodged any other way – maybe the currents of air flowing from those vents offer a chance to escape?
