Update 2.8.5 will test you and your allies’ skills to the limit with two epic new challenges. Read on to find out what you’ll need to prepare for in Tartarus.
Tiamat’s Underground Secrets
From level 58, you can join up to 5 allies and venture into the depths of Tartarus to foil the sinister plans Tiamat is brewing up beneath the Apheta Beluslan Fortress.
Brave the challenge to earn Abyss Relics once every week (resetting at Wednesday, 9 AM).
Backstory
Tiamat has ordered her minions to bring together the energy of time itself, and collect it beneath the Apheta Beluslan Fortress. Here she intends to concentrate and refine this temporal power, until it is ready for her deathly purpose. Tiamat will guard her treasure jealously, and any Daevas who try to get in the way of her evil plans will face a series of deadly challenges, deep under the earth...
Where Is Tartarus?
Tartarus can be entered via the Apheta Beluslan Fortress if your faction has control over the fortress. If not, you will need to locate Tikimunerk or Tikirunerk in the vicinity of the fortress, who will be able to provide you with a Time Fragment. Then head to your faction’s airship and use the Fragment to travel through the rift to Tartarus.
The Instance
Barely have you and your friends taken your first trepidatious steps into Tartarus, when you will come across your first obstacle: Vasuki Lifespark! He is less than thrilled by the prospect of intruders, and will use his spells to paralyse you. You will cross paths with him several times, so don’t let him distract you from your goal, but press on into the secret vault beneath the fortress!
Your next task will be to overcome the powerful seal which Tiamat is using to protect her secrets. After crossing the Dungeon Surveillance Centre, you’ll find yourselves in a spacious area in front of this huge seal. It is powered by four generators, with a host of Balaur charged with ensuring that no one lays a finger on them...
Once your party has managed to destroy the four generators, the seal will collapse. But the first real danger is actually lurking behind it in the form of Gatekeeper Melkennis! Tiamat’s minion is well protected and your attacks will harmlessly bounce off him. He’ll also sic his two hounds on you! Once you manage to get the better of the Gatekeeper, each of you will be able to enjoy the rewards of a treasure chest full of Abyss Relics.
You and your allies have now reached the entrance to Tartarus and can spread your wings, making a steep descent into the depths. Self-destroying Prison Ashulagens will attempt to stop you! Anyone who manages to keep a cool head in the madness will perhaps notice that some of the Ashulagens are purple instead of red...
Once you have terra firma beneath your feet again, you’ll find yourselves on the aptly named Hellpath. Here you’ll be confronted by Guard Leader Sumeda, who will do everything he can to stop you! Take him down and the huge door barring your path will open. The best-protected area of Tartarus now lies before you!
This is where you will be confronted by Vasuki Lifespark one final time. Although his attempts to stop you have proven so unsuccessful, he knows that Tiamat does not tolerate failure, so will now try to take you out personally!
... or die trying! But no sooner have you dealt with him than your next test will be waiting, as three strange Gargoyles block your path. One of them is protected by an impenetrable shield, but maybe the knowledge earned in your last encounter will prove useful in defeating this ostensibly invincible opponent...
The air crackles with energy as you approach the deepest section of Tartarus. This is where Tiamat is developing her latest secret weapon – a replica of Phaestos! Fortunately, you have infiltrated Tartarus before Tiamat’s engineers have had sufficient time to complete this terrifying weapon. The remake may look unstable, but it shouldn’t be taken lightly! While not as powerful as the original, this version is still a more than capable contraption!
Once the dust has settled on this confrontation and you stand victorious but visibly exhausted from the fight, you’ll find several Tartarus Treasure Chests fill of Abyss Relics before you!
Tips and Tricks
Look out for Condensed Time Echoes on your travels. Daevas with sufficient essencetapping skills will be able to harvest them. The majority contain Time Splinters, but some also contain rare Eris Fragments which will prove useful to you later! Once you’ve defeated the final boss, you’ll notice that one of the treasure chests is locked. This is where those players who picked up an Eris Fragment can delight in even more Abyss Relics than their allies, as they will be able to open the lock.
Apparently invincible enemies should try to avoid relying too heavily on their companions, as this bad habit has already been others’ undoing. Near the gate behind which you meet Vasuki Lifespark for the last time, there is another secret waiting to be found by adventurous Daevas who know how to put their new gliding skills to use...
The mysterious Paruam Sealguard has hidden well away and dispatched Informers to keep an eye on those areas of Tartarus too difficult for the Balaur to patrol on foot. What would happen if someone were to track down and kill all those Informers?
