A Mad Scientist’s Design: Phaestos’ Disc
You can embark with 1 to 5 companions deep into the Malek Mine, to confront the perilous device crafted at Tiamat’s command by the erratic genius, Radan, from level 58.
Challenge it weekly to seize Phaestos’ Wings, new Prismatic weapons, the Quick Glide skill book, and many other spoils! (Dungeon restarts every Wednesday at 9 AM.)
Storyline
Radan, initially a Daeva, defected from the Asmodians when Tiamat began her capture campaigns, becoming her right-hand. Utilizing the forces of thunder and lightning, he mutated numerous Daevas into Thunderstream soldiers obeying the Balaur.
Eventually, some forces managed to break free from Tiamat's grip. At that time, having assembled Siel’s Power throughout Atreia, Tiamat dispatched Radan into Beluslan. His previous knowledge from his Daeva days aided him greatly.
Radan researched the enigmatic Auridion, the glistening substance reminiscent of Siel’s work. Auridion was to be extracted by Tiamat’s legion due to its great potential.
Yet, originating from Siel’s Power, Auridion proved hard to handle and Radan was unable to manipulate it. Driven by urgency and knowing Tiamat wouldn’t allow failure, he turned to bold measures. He found ancient technologies in Beluslan ruins which he tried to use to exploit Auridion, aiming to forge a potent weapon.
Beluslan suffered due to his tests, twisted by space-time disruptions. Undeterred, Radan pressed on with his work within Phaestos’ Disc in the Malek Mine.
Now Tiamat wields a power beyond Daeva or Balaur understanding, forming dominance over Apheta Beluslan and all Atreia.
Locating Phaestos’ Disc
You can enter Phaestos’ Disc from within the Malek Mine at the core of Apheta Beluslan. You must navigate past many Lepharists and be wary of attacks from competing factions.
The Encounter
Before confronting Tiamat’s principal scientist, clear a path to him. Right after entering through the portal within the Malek Mine, you'll find yourself in an impressive entrance hall. You'll be greeted by two of Tiamat’s underlings. Quickly dispatch them and move into the ruins!
At the hallway’s end, you encounter your first significant foe: Phaestos’ Gatekeeper. To prevent anyone from sliding by unnoticed, he pulls adversaries towards him, guarding this passage to the core of the ruins fiercely.
Once defeated, you and your group might acquire the first page of a forgotten skill book, before confronting Radan’s fearsome creation. Phaestos embodies what a twisted scientist’s mind can conceive!
This mechanical beast boasts a wide arsenal of capabilities, inflicting massive ruin upon even seasoned squads. Watch for its vision-stealing attack; left uncleaned, it’s lethal! As if that didn’t sufficiently terrify Daevas, Phaestos summons more lackeys. Additional volatile creations of Radan and guards posted by Tiamat join his plight.
After dust settles and Phaestos lies vanquished, you and your allies deserve to enjoy the rich rewards. Expect the Quick Glide skill book, a Forgotten Skill Book Page Bundle, in addition to the new Prismatic weapons and gear, or the valuable Phaestos’ Wings! Above these, take pride in thwarting Tiamat’s plans once more...
Hints
Being struck by Phaestos with Siel’s Curse isn’t pleasant. Your sight becomes impaired and it lingers long! But who can say, perhaps you'll find a way to banish the shadows...
