Hey folks, I've been pondering this skill that is often sought after in mass PvP encounters at Laspharan.
The more I dive into battles on that map, the more I notice players longing for it in their teams.
What's your take on Safeguard I?
I just investigated this skill and was stunned to see its effects:
- Instant casting
- Reduces damage by 50% + significantly boosts CC resistance
- 2-minute cooldown
- Lasts for 10 seconds
- Affects up to 6 group members
I fought against it, which is why I examined it.
Now, I'd like to compare it to another potent skill in 6v6 clashes: Fear Shriek.
This ability possesses massive potential, although it has its downsides:
- It has a casting requirement: you'll need a templar/substitution (10-minute CD) to shield from direct attacks, and it's vulnerable to silence
- It's not on your team; it's cast on the opposing group: meaning you have to be amidst enemies to use it
- Casters are vulnerable: SMs can't use any shield, effective block, or MR set (macc is necessary for it to work), so they can be easily taken down if unsupported
Conversely, Safeguard I requires just a quick activation and is equipped by one of the sturdier classes in a full set. Two-minute CD ensures constant availability in skirmishes, and if activated before combat, dispelling isn't straightforward. With a 50% damage reduction and increased CC resistance for 10 seconds, it's overwhelming to me.
So, what's your perspective on Safeguard I guys? I genuinely believe it alters the dynamics in dredgion and Laspharan engagements, and when something has such a dramatic impact, a nerf or removal seems warranted to me.
That's just my opinion, though. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.
Speaking of which, if you're searching for a balanced PvP scene, I'm currently testing Aion Riftshade. The server offers advanced PvP/PvE rankings, and balanced classes ensure fair fights.
Thanks,
see you all in-game!
