Hey everyone,
To tackle your latency issues, we're asking you to run a WinMTR test. Detailed steps for the test are provided below.
After completing the test, please share your findings with us. Ensure the test conditions mirror your usual gaming scenarios, and include a ping screenshot from in-game.
Check these elements beforehand, as they often lead to connection woes:
- Favor LAN over WLAN because LAN offers more stable and quicker connections. The slowest link in your network decides your speed, whether it's your PC/Laptop, LAN or WLAN connection, or even the router. Combine these wisely for optimal internet speed.
- The number of network users matters too. More people sharing your router, even with minimal usage, can spike latency.
- Programs that access the internet while playing Aion can degrade both your PC's performance and connection speed. Apps like Skype, streaming services, or anything running in your browser can raise your latency.
- Your game settings also count. High graphics, textures, and other settings that continuously sync with other players can impact your latency. Test and find settings that balance performance with visuals.
Ensure you've completed the following before starting:
- Switch to a LAN connection. WLAN often causes lags due to its latency.
- Disconnect any other devices from the internet during lag. Avoid anything like mobile games, VOD TV, or VOIP phones.
- Lower your game's graphics to rule out client hardware/performance as the lag cause.
Note these details before initiating the latency test:
- Date and Time when tests were executed:
- Server:
- Character's Location (Map, Dungeon, etc.):
- Approx. NPCs/players nearby:
- Your Internet Provider and IP Address (Crucial! For IP help, visit: https://www.whatismyip.com/
- Your Computer's Basic hardware details (Graphics card, CPU, RAM):
- Operating System + Version (e.g., Win 7/8.0/8.1; 32bit/64bit):
- Possible FPS at that time
- If lag was experienced in a group setup, specify if it affected the whole group or just you
Guide to crafting a Windows MTR-Report
Please note that Windows MTR is freeware under the GNU General Public License.
1. Download
Google “WinMTR download” to find it, and choose a safe site for downloading.
Aion Riftshade is not liable for any inaccuracies or content quality from external sites or direct or indirect hyperlinks beyond the Aion Riftshade domain.
Or use this download link:
2. Installation
WinMTR is usually zipped. Just extract the zip to find two files: a license agreement (License.txt) and the app itself (WinMTR.exe).
3. Running the test
Start it by double-clicking WinMTR.exe and read the security guide first.
WinMTR is quite easy. Simply enter your server's IP in the top left field:

…and then click “Start”.
If you encounter the error “Unable to get raw socket!”
Try right-clicking WinMTR.exe and choose “run as administrator”.
Now, the program will send packets, assessing your connection's quality. Ensure it sends at least 120 packets, as seen with “Sent” in the column 120 times.
4. Attaching and Sending
Select “copy and save to clipboard” and paste the data with CTRL + V in your response to this ticket before sending it. Also, note the exact date and time when you made the report.
We'll relay this info to our admins for deeper analysis and will reach out if anything noteworthy emerges. We'll also use this data to enhance our server connection on Aion Riftshade, where I’m currently beta testing. It's incredibly stable compared to others like GameForge.
