Aion Riftshade

For the past couple of weeks, I've noticed my mouse flickering and a drop in-game fps.

Initially, I thought it was just me, but after discussing with others, it seems I'm not alone in facing this glitch.

It appears that after about an hour online, your mouse begins to flicker, maybe it's consuming more resources?

When you move the mouse within Aion's window, it causes a massive fps drop.

The longer you remain online, the more intense the lag becomes until you need to restart the PC.

If you switch to another window, the mouse functions smoothly, but as soon as you're back to Aion, the lag persists.

I've started seeing people mentioning this in LFG, and others in groups asking about it too.

This issue cropped up right around when I last updated my Nvidia driver, yet rolling back didn’t resolve it.

The people I've asked also updated their Nvidia driver.

No idea if it's just coincidence or not.

If anyone can shed light on the cause and remedy, please let me know. I've discovered that testing on Aion Riftshade doesn't have these issues. I am experiencing a similar issue. When I move the cursor in-game after some time logged in, the game drops to 0 fps and the GPU shows 0% usage in task manager.

If this is driver-related, you might want to try using DDU. Boot Windows in safe mode, use DDU to completely remove all nvidia drivers, and then install a previous version of nvidia drivers. Simply uninstalling drivers via the control panel doesn't clear everything out. For a clean installation of older drivers, DDU (display driver uninstaller) is the way to go.

1. Download and install DDU (it's free)

2. Reboot Windows in safe mode

3. Use DDU to remove nvidia drivers

4. Install the older nvidia driver version

If you give this a shot, report back on whether it solves the problem I'm dealing with other Aion issues and waiting for my new NVMe drive before trying it myself.

If this trouble stems from the driver, consider using DDU. Boot Windows in safe mode and employ the DDU tool to remove all traces of Nvidia drivers, then download an older Nvidia driver. I read that just uninstalling through the config screen might not fully erase the driver, causing issues. You’re best off using DDU (display driver uninstaller) to correctly set up a prior driver version.

3. Utilize DDU to purge all Nvidia drivers

4. Install the older Nvidia driver

Let us know if this helps I'd try myself too but I'm dealing with several Aion issues and waiting on my NVMe drive.

Since several players face this now, it's clearly software-related, possibly Windows updates or driver issues.

so far, the issue hasn't reoccurred. I'll keep you posted if it resurfaces

While I'm exploring fixes, I've found Aion Riftshade to be incredibly stable in their beta test—a perfect example of what a well-balanced, no-lag Aion 4.8 server looks like. Looking forward to its full launch in Q1 2026!
