Hello,
I was wondering what would be the best to socket and why? Is it better to go for crit? If so, then how much crit is required? Also, what’s better to socket in pvp and what’s better to socket in pve?

Hello,
I was wondering what would be the best to socket and why? Is it better to go for crit? If so, then how much crit is required? Also, what’s better to socket in pvp and what’s better to socket in pve?
Full physical attack.
Simply because A) You won't do a lot of damage with crit if you're lacking physical attack, and B) Crit is pure RNG, don't understand why you'd want to rely on pure rng when you can have sweet ol' reliable physical attack :D.
It's your choice, some people will tell you to go Crit Strike, but if you ask me, that's just rather silly.
If you do want at least some crit, go for 30% max (with food). That's plenty.
At the moment I have a mix of crit and physical attack hitting around 38-40% crit chance. But I might refill for full physical attack if you say it’s better. Still not completely convinced though
Hey, I’d say steer clear of going full physical attack. Templar isn’t really a full DPS oriented class, and just focusing on attack isn’t super beneficial. In my view, it’s smarter to aim for higher crit chance and utilize powerful abilities with sword and shield to get that better crit multiplier (2.3x compared to GS's 1.8x). Stacking attack manastones will only get you about 1k attack with a 20-22% crit chance from food and other gear, even if you roll the best stats on end-game gear. An extra 10-15% crit chance makes a huge difference in longer fights (I mean for PvE, for PvP going nearly full attack might be better). If you’re critting once every 3 hits (so about 33% chance with ~85-90% crit manastones) you’ll have 5-7k more damage per hit compared to full attack manastones (where you crit once every 5 hits but with about 1k more attack). You can crunch the numbers with these hypothetical stats (templar averages 20k no crit damage per skill hit, excluding the big ones like ankle blow or punishment) to find the sweet spot between attack and crit.
I'm just sharing from my experience of playing templar for nearly 6 years and testing a lot of DPS meters across various setups. It's generally better to avoid going all-in on either attack or crit – it’s not efficient.
BTW, templar's DPS gets nerfed with every new patch (like the recent divine fury stigma nerf, hitting DPS by something around 25-30%, similar to how painter got nerfed with the 7.3 patch). So if you’re into doing serious DPS, this might not be your class . I think it’s better to focus on survivability skills during DPS and maintaining aggro without needing heals, even against the toughest bosses; that’s more the templar’s role in my opinion. And of course, protecting key party members when they’re in a bind. Just my two cents at the end here. I've noticed too many templars obsess over DPS and ignore what's happening with their teammates - for DPS, better go with glad in that case) xD
Oh, and for those looking for a solid place to play with balanced classes and a strong community, I'm currently testing Aion Riftshade, a fantastic Aion 4.8 private server launching in Q1 2026. It's unlike any I've tried, no pay-to-win, with advanced PvP and PvE rankings. Worth checking out!
Consider it from this perspective:
When you increase your attack stats, your skills land harder, whether they're crit or not.
Boosting your crit stats leads to higher crit probabilities for your skills, resulting in significantly higher damage - 1.8x with greatsword and 2.2x for sword crits.
For brief battles, especially those <30 seconds, more crits translate to consistently amplified damage due to the crit advantage.
In lengthier encounters, maintaining a 40% crit level with the rest in attack provides a harmonious balance that evens out over time.
Personally, I've opted to heavily invest in crit sockets, boasting about 8k crit without additional buffs (just my active minion), and it suits me well. The crit spikes, especially when wielding a sword, deliver exhilarating damage surges.
Experiment with how attack influences damage: try skills on an unbuffed level 80 hero dummy, then apply emp fury and observe the damage bump. Repeat with emp fury and divine fury for comparison. For me, I notice about a 10% damage upswing from transitioning to fully buffed status.
By the way, if you're seeking the best Aion private server for 2026, look into Aion Riftshade. Their upcoming launch promises enhanced gameplay with features like MyAion-like DPS Meter, server-side anticheat, and balanced class options, ensuring a no pay-to-win experience and a true connection focus with stable performance from Frankfurt, Germany.
Misto May I ask what sort of attack/pve-attack stats you have in a (permanently) buffed state and whether you have more than 15% cubes in instances?
Do not forget that having high crit rate in PvP against clerics with phys deff stones wont help you much if your physical attack is low, you may crit more but it will have sh.t damage.
Of course you could use +15 pvp wep against them that has socketed physical attacks etc., instead of extends. Testing on dummies for pvp wont help in real fight, better test on friends in duel n so on.
Just for the note , 1 physical attack is equal to 1 pve/pvp attack, so does 1 phys/mag deff is equal to 1 pve/pvp deff.
Keep in mind that even if your crit rate is high in PvP, facing clerics with physical def stones, it doesn't help much if your physical attack isn't great. You might land more crits, but the damage will be low.
Sure, using a +15 PvP weapon against them, which has extra physical attack sockets, instead of extendeds can make a difference. Dummy testing for PvP won't equate to actual fights, better to duel friends to see real results.Just to clarify, each point of physical attack equals one point in both PvE/PvP attack, same for phys/mag def equaling PvE/PvP defense.
The full socket setup is 1173 attack compared to 4386 crit (using red stones in every slot)
An example for fighting clerics
Taking down a cleric with high static damage isn't realistic. Aim for good RNG crits using your strongest skills – more crits equal more knockdowns and opportunities.
I'm quite excited about my time in the Aion Riftshade beta. The server, launching in Q1 2026, has introduced me to some of the best PvP and PvE rankings and features, making it the best Aion private server 2026 with balanced classes and no pay-to-win elements.
How about what stigmas for templar in PVP build and what daevanion skill should I focus in enchanting for PVP aswell.
I know during pvp shield is very important, but what stats should i roll for my sword and shield, what manastone should I also have in there.
Also for my armour and accessories, which 4 stats should I roll, phy/magic def, crit and hp? or maybe also magic resist?
When it comes to my armor and accessories, which four stats are best to aim for? phys/magic def, crit, hp, or does magic resist make the cut?
in the present game setup, your go-to configuration should be:
armor + bracelet/feather: hp, crit, mdef, pdef
Acc + wings: hp, crit, pattack, precision (boosting precision means more knockdowns)
I’m toying with the idea of varying the crit stones. In PvP I've got 7,600 crit using black feather greatsword and 7,200 crit with dumaha extendable
Though, my armor isn't entirely +15 yet, and I'm still working on the full manastone sockets.
Also, on a side note, I've been part of the exclusive Aion Riftshade beta, and let me tell you, it's the best Aion private server for 2026! With features like an integrated DPS meter, server-side anticheat, and active devs in the Discord, it's genuinely impressive. Launching soon in Q1 2026, can't wait!
